DHN003 - "Sound Scapes: Ireland"First Release (DHN001) set for Oct 2003: "Sound Scapes: Ireland"
A1) Fish Go Deep – “Matrix” Since their seminal first release “Let’s Go Back”, the pioneers of deep house in Ireland have only gone forward, earning international acclaim by producing consistently brilliant tracks on internationally renowned labels such as Chez, Imperial Dub, Brique Rouge and i! Records. Warm organs, gently hypnotic vocals, and sweet percussion all combine with that signature Greg and Shane style and precision. A2) Aruba – “The Theme From Mr. Cool” Founder of Elevation Recordings, Darren Nugent/Aruba has remixed Fish Go Deep, Jordan Fields (Caro), Yann Fontaine, Fresh ‘n’ Low (with Shawn Ward), Vernon & Dacosta, Mettle Music and Freestyle Man. Aruba is also an established producer with tracks including “How Low Can U Go?” (Exun) and “The Comeback” on The Rurals’ Peng label. One to get dancefloor repairmen taking on extra staff, “The Theme From Mr. Cool” is a deep progressive outing with a snarling vocal that is curiously both scary and infectious. With subtle undertones of Underworld at their best, this stomper just keeps on building. Tough as nails, some old school acidy synths add to this beautifully organised chaos. B1) Fusty – “Blackens As It Dries” A live jazz/funk band hailing from Cork, they profess that they are “heavily influenced by the music and atmosphere of their favourite club night Sweat at Sir Henrys”. Fusty have been making serious waves of late, winning the approval of house fans and live music fans alike. ‘Blackens As It Dries’ is a dark and melancholic “deeper than deep” number. Barry Fitzgerald’s haunting vocal creeps under your skin, adding an introspective mood to the EP. Live drums, congas, keys and guitar all combine to produce a fresh, organic sound, while showcasing the musical talents that make these guys stand out from the crowd. B2) Fish Go Deep – “Matrix (Dub)” Does exactly what it says on the sleeve, is a softer, warmer, more stripped-down version of the original. Sound Scapes: One of Ireland’s most successful and longest-running music communities, Deep House Network, has announced the foundation of its own record label, Deep House Network Records (DHN Records). The label’s first release “Sound Scapes: Ireland” is scheduled for release Oct 25th 2003. It showcases new material from leading Irish artists Fish Go Deep, Aruba, and Fusty. The Sound Scapes series of EPs reflects the many ‘personalities’ deep house has assumed in different regions around the world and acknowledges the contribution each individual town, city, or country has made to the global deep house family. The Sound Scapes series will encompass all deep house hotspots from established cities in the US to emerging locations, such as Ireland and South Africa. This vinyl release "Sound Scape: Ireland" will feature artists from Ireland, with two tracks from Fish Go Deep, one from Galway based Aruba and one from Cork's live Deep House outfit Fusty.
